View from a CNG (what the fuck’s a CNG?) – more pics from Dhaka

This is called a CNG (or vostok) in Bangladesh. In English it’s called an auto-rickshaw. They are imported from India, and are by far my favourite mode of transport in Bangladesh. The feeling of freedom cos there’re no doors and I still never fell out; the capacity to fit in more than 8 grown ups plus chickens, children and babies. And sometimes even motorcycles…..I love it!!

And here are some pics from the back of one on the streets of Dhaka….

  1. Wow! The vehicle seems so Wierd to me, being I live in the United States, although looks really cool. Love how you can fit a motorcycle in the vehicle along with everything else.

What a neat looking way to get around the city!

    • I love this vehicle. Not supposed to be safe because of trucks, buses and 4 wheel drives on the road, but I didn’t experience any mishaps (touch wood) in last year-I was went everywhere in one. It totally depends on the driver.

      • Wish we had those in the states, maybe they do, but I have never seen one. We do have the “rick-shaws” where people pull you on the little thing that looks like a bicycle….recently saw many of these in Washington D.C.

Always thought it looked a little odd for people to actually be pulling others around on a bicycle while they sit in the back. Don’t know how one person could do so much exercise in one day, by pulling people around such a hilly city as D.C. (northern part is uphill).

Believe the “rick-shaw” originated from Asia, but unsure.

Sure you know what I am referring to, with your travels.

  2. I love the views out the window. It’s a great POV. Reminds me of the Darjeeling Limited when they are in India, I believe.
